Young DAVID is a series of five, five-minute shorts which serve as prequels to the full-length animated feature DAVID, which we plan to release in 2025.

When will Young DAVID be released?

The first short, “Warrior,” will debut on November 10, with a new short released each month for five months. Minno also created a companion illustrated book series for each of the show’s chapters.

The Young DAVID Shorts will be distributed by Angel Studios and goMinno. The current goal is for the shorts to premiere on the Angel Studios and goMinno platforms for a limited window & thereafter be available on a wide variety of platforms worldwide.

There were a few concept artists who worked on this. This has truly been a collaborative project, some of our artists who worked on concept art @veelocityart, @johnburtonart, @armand_serrano, and @danielclarkeart

What are the Marks on the DAVID Logo?

A lot of work and thought went into the design of our title design for DAVID. The structure and design of the letters were inspired by the inscription of David’s name. How wonderful to have the original writing reflected in the title. The three stripes in the ‘V’ have two meanings. Firstly, the Roman numeral ‘VIII’ equates to the number 8, David was the 8th son of Jessy. Secondly, the ‘V’ with three lines through it graphically represents David’s harp.

Is this biblically accurate?

The initial inspiration for making DAVID was ignited as Phil Cunningham (Director) read the scriptural account of David's life, and we are very passionate about bringing this story to screen in a way that is as authentic to the Biblical text. This passion has fueled four trips to Israel so far, and we have engaged deeply with Biblical scholars and archaeologists (and continue to do so), as we continue to refine our script. We hope you'll love the final result and find it authentic and entertaining!

Why does David look different than in the demo?

The DAVID demo was initially intended to give a glimpse into our animation style and quality, and to give a feel for our approach to the story. This demo was completed four years ago, and since that time we have been deeply involved in our research and development process, which has included four trips to Israel, and (ongoing) deep engagement with Biblical scholars, historians and archaeologists.This research process has informed and, in some cases, re-directed our approach to character art. While we really love this demo, the final movie will feature new characters (including David), and we hope you'll love the final result.
