Dear current and future Guild members,

What does it mean to amplify light? How do we achieve it?Before getting to that definition, I’d like to share a letter I received reflecting your impact during the release of Solo Mio

That thanks goes to the producers of Solo Mio and to the Angel Guild. You make Angel possible. The word that stood out to me was “Joyful.”

Definition of Light

When we, as Guild members, vote on new projects (nothing gets released by Angel without the Guild's affirmative vote), we pledge to choose excellent stories that are true, honest, noble, just, authentic, lovely, or admirable.Inspired in part by Janice's letter, we're now adding one word: Joyful. This isn’t just about what we put on screen, it’s about what happens inside of us. The world has faced dark days and constant negative news, yet we believe we are here on this earth to have joy. After all, our very first Angel Original was the hit series Dry Bar Comedy, which has delivered over 6 billion views. Those laughs brought joy to many during tough times, including the Angel Team.Joy strengthens families and gives people purpose. We invite everyone to see the joy in the world. To share joy with each other. To choose stories that amplify light.Onward and upward,

2021 Mission Statement

Dear film fan,We’re building a home for stories that amplify light (or, as we call it, our North Star). How do we define light? True, honest, noble, just, authentic, lovely, admirable, and excellent.Just as a compass, the stars and magnetic North guided sailors through dark waters centuries ago, our North Star for filmmaking helps us navigate dark times and focus on light in our day.Darkness can seem pervasive. Last year introduced fires all over Australia, pandemic, economic turmoil, locusts infestations, rising food prices, protests and riots, earthquakes, and financial warfare (look up Hedge Funds and GameStop). Sometimes it feels as if the tumultuous events are becoming more frequent. There’s a reason the film business was one of the few industries that grew during the Great Depression. Hope is a fundamental human need and in yesteryear, the filmmakers mastered storytelling to meet that need.Unfortunately, most shows offered these days add to the cynicism, division, and darkness so pervasive in society. Fortunately, darkness and light, hope and despair, cannot exist in the same place at the same time. And we believe if we build a home for creators and communities to connect, specifically those who align with our North Star, Angel will become known for fulfilling our universal human need for hope and light. Our time feels short. Choosing, funding, creating, and spreading stories that matter has never felt more urgent.Whether as a customer, investor or team member thank you for joining us.
