Apply nowAbout the role
At Angel, we're building a home for stories that amplify light. Our Product Design team creates experiences that help people discover these stories, connect with our mission, and become part of the Angel community.
As a Senior Product Designer focused on Special Projects, you'll work directly with our EVP of Experience to explore new ideas, develop innovative concepts, and validate business opportunities that could become new products, initiatives, or teams at Angel. Unlike traditional product design roles focused on established experiences, you'll operate in an environment where ideas are just beginning to take shape, helping determine which opportunities are worth pursuing.
We're looking for a designer who combines strong product design skills, entrepreneurial thinking, and a passion for using AI to bring ideas to life. You'll use AI-powered tools to accelerate research, ideation, and prototyping, building working experiences that help us test assumptions and validate ideas quickly. You don't need to be an engineer, but you should be comfortable working with AI coding tools to turn concepts into functional prototypes that can be placed in front of real users.
At Angel, our Senior Product Designers take ownership of their work and the outcomes it creates. You'll thrive here if you're naturally curious, love solving complex problems, embrace ambiguity, and aren't afraid to challenge assumptions or explore unconventional solutions. Most importantly, you'll have the opportunity to help shape Angel's future by turning promising ideas into meaningful opportunities for our business and the audiences we serve.
What You'll Do
- Partner directly with the EVP of Experience to identify, explore, and develop new product concepts, business opportunities, and experiences that support Angel's mission and long-term vision.
- Take early-stage ideas from initial exploration through functional prototypes, user validation, and business case development, helping determine which opportunities are worth pursuing.
- Proactively identify and champion new opportunities by understanding customer needs, emerging technologies, market trends, and potential gaps within Angel's existing experiences.
- Use AI tools throughout your workflow, from research and ideation to prototyping and validation, building working experiences with tools such as Claude Code or Cursor to accelerate learning and experimentation.
- Rapidly design, prototype, and test multiple concepts, balancing speed and design quality while challenging assumptions and refining solutions based on what you learn.
- Regularly connect with users, either directly or in partnership with Research, to understand their needs, validate assumptions, and gather feedback that informs the direction of new concepts.
- Work closely with the EVP of Experience and cross-functional partners to develop business cases that evaluate customer value, business potential, technical feasibility, and the resources required to bring an idea to market.
- Help define clear hypotheses, success metrics, and experiments that determine whether a new concept should move forward, evolve, or be reconsidered.
- Clearly communicate concepts, prototypes, research findings, and recommendations to stakeholders, building confidence and alignment around promising opportunities.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Research, Marketing, and other teams to understand constraints, uncover opportunities, and evaluate potential paths to execution.
- Own the design quality of new concepts, ensuring prototypes demonstrate thoughtful interaction design, visual design, usability, and alignment with Angel's brand and user experience standards.
- Help transition validated concepts into actionable initiatives, providing the design direction, insights, and documentation needed for existing or newly formed teams to take ownership.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience designing consumer-facing digital products, or equivalent impact demonstrated through strong design leadership and end-to-end ownership.
- Strong product design skills, with demonstrated expertise in interaction design, visual design, accessibility, and creating thoughtful, user-centered experiences.
- Portfolio demonstrating the ability to take ideas from early exploration through prototyping, validation, and execution, with examples of meaningful product or business impact.
- Experience exploring new product concepts or solving ambiguous problems where the solution, requirements, or business opportunity may not yet be clearly defined.
- Strong product thinking and entrepreneurial curiosity, with the ability to identify opportunities, challenge assumptions, and connect customer needs with potential business value.
- Demonstrated experience using AI tools throughout the product design process to explore ideas, solve problems, build functional prototypes, and improve the quality and efficiency of design work.
- Familiarity with AI coding tools, such as Claude Code or Cursor, and a willingness to go beyond traditional design workflows by building interactive, working experiences. Front-end engineering expertise is not required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience using user research, customer feedback, market insights, and experimentation to validate ideas and inform decisions.
- Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and move quickly between exploration, experimentation, and execution.
- Experience collaborating across Product, Engineering, Research, Marketing, and business stakeholders, communicating design decisions clearly, building trust, and welcoming feedback.
- Strong design leadership and communication skills, with the ability to present concepts, articulate opportunities, influence stakeholders, and build alignment around new ideas.
- Expert-level proficiency in Figma and modern design workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on early-stage products, startup ventures, innovation teams, or new business initiatives where ideas are developed and validated from the ground up.
- Experience developing proof-of-concept prototypes or minimum viable products (MVPs) to test new ideas and demonstrate business opportunities.
- Experience evaluating business opportunities, developing business cases, or working with leadership to determine the viability of new product concepts.
- Experience in entertainment, media, streaming, e-commerce, or subscription-based businesses.
- Experience designing for multiple platforms, such as web, native mobile apps, or TV and connected-device experiences.
- Experience contributing to a design system in both Figma and code.
- Experience working in fast-moving startup or high-growth environments.
- Interest in Angel's mission, the Angel Guild, and the stories we share with audiences around the world.
