Summary/objective: The Director, Media Finance is responsible for the investment economics underlying Angel’s content
commitments. The role builds and challenges financial cases for acquisitions, licenses, Royalty-Backed
Guarantees, financing structures, and other content investments so decision-makers understand expected return,
downside exposure, cash timing, recoupment, and key sensitivities before capital is committed.

Essential functions
- Investment Underwriting: Build decision models for acquisitions, licenses, RBGs, and strategic content investments.
- RBG Analysis: Model guarantee exposure, timing, performance thresholds, downside cases, recoupment,interest, and cash requirements.
- Scenario & Sensitivity Analysis: Pressure test audience, theatrical, Guild, downstream, licensing, cost, timing, and revenue assumptions.
- Deal Economics: Model waterfalls, revenue shares, minimum guarantees, advances recoupment positions,financing fees, and return structures.
- Decision Materials: Prepare clear investment memoranda and recommendations for Business Affairs andexecutive approval.
- Portfolio Monitoring: Compare actual performance with approved underwriting cases and identify lessons for future investment decisions.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Work with Finance, FP&A, Acquisitions, Guild, Theatrical, International, and Business Affairs to validate assumptions and data.
- Capital Exposure Reporting: Maintain visibility into committed, contingent, and potential content obligations.
Competencies
- Advanced financial modeling and investment analysis skills.
- Strong understanding of entertainment economics, distribution waterfalls, guarantees, licensing, and content cash flows.
- Ability to explain complex models and risks clearly to creative and executive stakeholders.
- Strong skepticism, precision, and willingness to pressure test optimistic assumptions.
Work Environment/Position Requirments
- Regular full-time exempt position unless otherwise designated by People & Culture.
- Provo or Minnesota in-office availability, with travel requirements appropriate to the role.
- Must be able to sit or stand at a desk for extended periods of time.
Required Education and Experince
- 7+ years of experience in media finance, investment banking, corporate finance, FP&A, content finance,private equity, or related roles; advanced modeling experience required.
Preferred Education and Experience
? Familiarity with Angel Studios, the Angel Guild, and Angel’s films, series, and other projects.
Work Authorization-Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Travel Required-Travel is occasional and based on transaction needs.
