Meet Maya the Bee

From the moment Maya hatches, it’s clear she’s not quite like the other bees.

While the hive teaches its young to follow the rules and keep their distance from other insects, Maya can’t help but wonder what’s beyond the meadow. She’s especially curious about the creatures she’s been told not to trust—including the hornets who live outside the hive.

Before long, Maya’s curiosity turns into an unlikely collection of friendships.

She befriends all kinds of bugs, including a violin-playing grasshopper, a dung beetle, and even a young hornet. To Maya, they’re friends—and her willingness to look beyond the boundaries of the hive gives her a very different perspective on the world around her.

But Maya’s world is turned upside down when the Royal Jelly is stolen from the hive. With the hornets quickly blamed for the crime, suspicion spreads throughout the meadow. But Maya isn’t convinced. She knows that judging someone based on where they come from isn’t the same as knowing the truth.

Now, Maya and her unlikely group of friends must work together to find the missing Royal Jelly and prove that the hornets aren’t responsible.
