We’ve heard from many parents asking: What age is SKETCH really for?
And we get it. The MPA rated SKETCH PG—but that’s not the whole story.
Before you assume that makes it a free-for-all for all ages, we want to offer some clarity.
At Angel, we know that today’s PG rating can mean wildly different things depending on the film. For many families, PG is interpreted as “basically G”—but SKETCH isn’t a G-rated experience, and it’s not trying to be.
Think of SKETCH as landing somewhere between PG and PG-13. The movie has a mix of thrilling moments, light peril, a few sharp words, and some pretty intense (but very colorful) monster scenes. This is a movie designed to thrill, make you laugh, and pull at your heart—but it’s not made for toddlers.
The Angel Guild Recommended Age
The Angel Guild Recommended Age is a new kind of age guidance, based on feedback from real families, not committees. You deserve more than a vague rating. You deserve real context.

The Angel Guild—a community of thousands of parents, viewers, and supporters who screen and vote on Angel projects—rated SKETCH as appropriate for ages 8 and up.

“Contains scary chalk and crayon monsters and music, 1 use of ‘sh*t,’ 5 uses of ‘hell,’ 2 ‘dumb*ss,’ and other mildly crude language.”

Why this matters
We know how frustrating it is to walk into a theater expecting one kind of family film and getting another. That’s why the Angel Guild exists; to offer real-world insight from real parents.
