The Angel Promise
Better stories made for our families,
and hopefully yours too.
Dear friends,
In 2013, four brothers and a cousin (and our spouses) came together to create Angel. We aren’t from Hollywood. We are potato farmers from Idaho. But someone had to solve the problem of giving great entertainment to our families, so we set out to try.
Using our collective experience raising 34 children, we have created three Angel Promises. Our goal with each promise is simple: better stories made for our families, and hopefully yours too.
此致,
The Angel Founders:
The Harmons: Neal & Trisha, Daniel & Heidi, Jeffrey & Anniele, and Jordan & Deann
The Cranes: Benton & Brittany
The Angel Guild Decides
The Angel Guild gives you a voice in what comes to Angel. Every film and series is reviewed and voted on by Guild members and must earn at least 70 out of 100 to be eligible for Angel. In other words, the Guild has the power to veto any title. If the Angel Guild vetoes a film, not even we as founders can decide to take it.
Below 70, a title does not come to Angel. There is no override.
The Guild Pledge
“When I vote, I pledge to help choose excellent entertainment that is true, honest, noble, just, authentic, lovely, admirable, or joyful.”
This is the standard that guides every vote.
Submission Standard
Before the Guild votes, this is the bar that
all submissions must surpass:
No Nudity or Sex on Screen
No nudity. No sex acts on screen. Ever.1
No Misuse of God’s Name
Angel will not release original films or series that misuse God’s name. For titles already produced, we offer parental controls so each family can decide what belongs in their home.2
Language
Standard
No F words. And no profanity in titles submitted for young kids (12 and under).3
Parental Controls
Guild members set a recommended age rating for each film and series to help parents have context before they make family watching decisions. And we promise to give parents the tools they need to make sure there are no surprises.
A promise backed by 100 million+ votes in the Angel Mission Trust.
In June 2026, we (Neal and Jeff) irrevocably transferred 10,146,000 shares of Class B stock (with 10 votes per share and currently worth approximately $48.2 million) to the Angel Mission Trust. These shares are locked up perpetually for the purpose of governing Angel.
If in the future Angel is breaking its promise, the Trust can cast more than 100 million votes to fire the board and executives and replace them with leadership who will keep the Angel Promise. Our hope is that this Trust can help Angel be the longest lasting entertainment company for families.
Share value based on the ANGX closing price of US$4.75 on 2026年8月19日.
We Need You
Angel is designed to be an unstoppable community.
You can help build the community in 3 ways:
Some of the greatest and most beloved stories are yet to be made and will join cherished stories from long ago that will inspire generations.
Together we can vote for and support filmmakers who create the stories that uphold our values.
Common Questions
Every film and series brought to Angel goes before the Angel Guild. Members watch it and vote. A title has to score at least 70 out of 100 during the voting process to be approved for Angel, meaning the Guild has the power to block any film or series from entering the Angel ecosystem. The central question voters answer is whether the film or series amplifies light, the same standard defined at the top of this promise.
Angel Originals are films and series hand-picked by the Angel team, the stories we want to represent the Angel brand and believe to be the most commercially viable. But even Originals must be approved by the Guild before they can go public on the platform. There are no exceptions to the Guild’s veto power.
Three boundaries hold permanently and will never change. They are the clearest lines we can draw, and they apply to every submission.
No nudity on screen.
No sex acts on screen.
No misuse of God’s name. This policy is defined as use of the name of God or of the Lord that is irreverent or profane. This policy should never restrict any sincere, reverent, or devotional use of the name of God in any faith, including prayer, worship, scripture, testimony, preaching, hymn, or sincere invocation. Angel will not release original films or series that misuse God’s name. For titles already produced, we offer parental controls so each family can decide what belongs in their home. The sacred belief of using the name of God and the Lord appropriately has stood the test of time over thousands of years across religions and cultures. That is why we hold this rule permanently. It will be applied differently across different cultures to best represent it.
Beyond those three permanent rules, the Language Standard below is also mandatory. The only reason these language rules are not permanent is because the meaning of certain words changes over time:
No use of the word f*ck in any title we carry.
No profanity in titles submitted for young kids. In addition to the word above, this includes b*tch, d*mn, sh*t, h*ll, and a**.
The Language Standard applies to the English language and may change for other languages, because other languages have different words and different meanings for the words that are profanities.
The same goes for our rule against misusing God’s name: because idiom varies across languages and cultures, that standard is applied in context and in good faith, with respect for how each language and culture reveres the name of God.
Violence is a grey area, and grey areas belong to the Angel Guild, so the Guild votes on every title. If a film or series is too violent or bloody, we trust the Guild to reject it. But if the Guild doesn’t reject it and your family feels it’s too violent, you can use parental controls or age ratings to judge if it’s right for your family.
Every title a filmmaker submits for ages 12 and under will contain no profanity, so children voting with their parents are never exposed to it and there are no surprises. This rule applies to the age the filmmaker submits for, not the age the audience later recommends: if the audience rates a title with profanity as under 12, that is an audience rating and this rule does not apply.
Some titles currently on the platform pre-date the implementation of these rules and will be reviewed and adjusted accordingly in the future as contracts are fulfilled.
Every title on Angel has surpassed the shared bar, and parental controls are how you raise that bar to your family’s own standard. Some films and series that reach this stage may have some scenes/words/images that your family wishes to avoid. We want you to have a practical, working way to keep scenes/words/images you find objectionable out of your household, so we give you parental controls.
This allows you to set global settings in the Angel app for the types of content you want to avoid, so you don’t accidentally come across them when you stream Angel titles.
The Angel Mission Trust holds more than 100 million votes. If Angel is breaking its promise, the Trust can fire the board and executives and replace them with leadership who will keep the Angel Promise.
We are human, and our library is growing quickly. From time to time we will miss something. If you are a Guild member and you believe we have broken one of these promises, you have every right to email us and report it (report@angel.com). Angel Guild members are the main driver of the Angel brand and will continue to set the standard of amplifying light in the entertainment world.
