Angel Guild — Help Us Get the Word Out on Angel and the Badman
First off, thanks for being an Angel Guild member. You're the reason this movie exists and we’d love a short video from you talking about it.
Setting Up Your Phone (about 5 minutes)
Hold your phone the tall way. Portrait, not landscape. These videos are going on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. The tall shape is what plays there.
Find good light. Sit facing a window during the daytime and you're golden. Don't sit with a window behind you, or you'll show up as a shadow. Outside works too, just not squinting into the sun.
Prop the phone up so it stands on its own. A stack of books, a shelf, a windowsill. Anything that puts the camera about arm's length from your face.
Frame your face in the top half of the screen. Leave a little room above your head. We don't need to see much below your chest.
Film somewhere quiet. No TV in the background, no dishwasher running. The phone's built-in mic is fine. You don't need anything extra.
Do a 5-second test. Watch it back. If your voice sounds clear and your face is easy to see, you're ready to go.
What to Say (about 30 to 60 seconds on camera)
Talk like you're telling a friend about a movie you're excited about.
Here's a simple 3-part structure:
1. The Hook (first 5 seconds)
Grab attention with one line. Something personal. A few examples:
"I used to grow up watching westerns with my father?"
“I got to see this film early and it is a must-see on the big screen”
"They finally made a real Western again."
"I've been in the Angel Guild for [X years], and this one might be my favorite yet."
"I helped greenlight this movie. And now it's in theaters."
2. Why You're Excited (about 20 to 40 seconds)
Say the movie name clearly, Angel and the Badman, and share why it hits you. Pick 2 or 3 of these to touch on. Don't try to say them all:
It's a retelling of the 1947 John Wayne classic
Tommy Lee Jones is in it (the Marshal)
It's about redemption, family, and faith. The good stuff.
You helped bring this film to theaters as a guild member, and that means something
Who you're going to see it with (spouse, kids, grandkids, dad, church group)
3. The Ask (last 5 to 10 seconds)
Close with the invitation. Say the date clearly:
"In theaters October 9th. Go get your tickets."
"October 9th. Bring your family."
"It's out October 9th. Don't miss it."
A Few Final Tips
Be yourself. Don't put on a "camera voice." The whole point is that it feels real.
Look at the lens (the little circle at the top of your phone), not at yourself on the screen.
Smile. Warmth carries through the screen.
One take is fine. If it feels natural, send it. If it doesn't, try one more time. Max.
If you flub, laugh it off and keep going. That stuff actually plays great.
Don't spoil the ending. You've seen more than most people will. Keep the surprises intact.
Under a minute is perfect. Shorter beats longer every time.
