ANGEL ACQUIRES WORLDWIDE RIGHTS TO MICHAEL KEATON’S RODE TO RUIN, STARRING KEATON AND MORGAN FREEMAN
ANGEL EXPANDS ITS INTERNATIONAL DISTRIBUTION BUSINESS INTO PRESALES; SALES FOR RODE TO RUIN AT TIFF: THE MARKET IN TORONTO
Provo, UT—September 4, 2026
Angel (NYSE: ANGX), a media and technology company successfully pioneering a first of its kind audience-driven studio model in which Angel Guild members watch, screen and vote on which films and television series get distributed in theaters and on the Angel platform, has acquired worldwide rights to Rode to Ruin from Lori McCreary’s and Morgan Freeman’s Revelations Entertainment and Michael Keaton’s George & Leona Productions, becoming the film’s worldwide distributor. The film stars Academy Award-nominated and Emmy Award-winning Michael Keaton (Batman, Knox Goes Away) and Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman (The Shawshank Redemption, Invictus). Keaton directs and stars in the haunting Western thriller, which will arrive in theaters nationwide in 2027.
“Rode to Ruin is the kind of exceptional, character-driven story that the Angel Guild is looking for—an honest story told with integrity and a genuine sense of purpose,” said David Fischer, VP of Acquisitions and Business Affairs at Angel. “Those qualities have long been the hallmark of Revelations Entertainment, and this film is a natural fit. Bringing together Michael Keaton and Morgan Freeman is a truly special combination, and Angel is thrilled to partner with Lori McCreary and the entire Revelations team to bring Rode to Ruin to audiences in theaters worldwide.”
“Angel’s mission is to spread light, and ours at Revelations has always been to reveal truth,” said Producer Lori McCreary, “that shared sense of purpose made this partnership feel very natural. David, Jordan and the entire team at Angel understood immediately what our vision is for this film.”
Rode to Ruin is a haunting Western thriller that follows a retired U.S. Marshal whose forty-year search for his wife’s killer leads him to an aging outlaw losing his memory - and to a buried truth neither man may survive.
The acquisition also expands Angel’s international distribution business into presales. Angel already releases its films theatrically around the world through an established network of international distribution partners; with Rode to Ruin, the company will for the first time license rights to a film ahead of its completion. Sales open at TIFF: The Market, the Toronto International Film Festival’s inaugural content market, running September 10-16 in Toronto.
“We’ve spent the last two years building an international distribution network that have released Angel movies theatrically in more than 95 countries, and presales are the natural next step for that business,” said Jared Geesey, EVP of International at Angel. “Instead of waiting for a finished film, our partners can now come in early, and that funding helps get the films our Guild wants made. We’ll open international sales for Rode to Ruin at TIFF: The Market next week, and a Western with Michael Keaton and Morgan Freeman is a strong film to start with.”
Rode to Ruin joins Angel’s diverse upcoming theatrical slate featuring a wide range of values-driven stories, including Runner, an action-packed thriller starring Owen Wilson and Alan Ritchson; Hershey, the true story of Milton Hershey, founder of the iconic chocolate company with Finn Wittrock and Alexandra Daddario; and Zero A.D., a biblical epic from director Alejandro Monteverde and stars Deva Cassel, Sam Worthington, Jim Caviezel, and Ben Mendelsohn.
