Angel Studios, the platform empowering filmmakers with full creative control to crowdfund and create, announces the hiring of Film Producer and Attorney David Fischer as Director of Business Affairs and Acquisitions. Fischer will also serve as a Strategic Advisor to the Angel Acceleration Group.

“While working on the film SIGHT, we got to know David well and saw firsthand his work ethic, his passion for film, and his desire to amplify light,” said Neal Harmon, CEO of Angel Studios. “David brings an incredibly unique skill set to our company. Rarely do you have someone who understands filmmaking, marketing, law, and finance. He will be a great asset to our studio.”

As Head of Business Affairs and Acquisitions, Fischer will be responsible for building relationships with filmmakers, as well as negotiating and closing film deals.  As an advisor for the Angel Acceleration Fund, he will also assist in managing finances on film projects, raising funds for production, and working to negotiate and close on investments.

Fischer was the driving force behind the theatrical release of SIGHT. From the initial concept, to the writing and publishing of the trade biography “From Darkness to Sight,” and the production of the feature film, Fischer led a 10-year journey to bring the story to life. Starring Greg Kinnear and Terry Chen, SIGHT tells the true story of Dr. Ming Wang, an impoverished Chinese prodigy who fled Communist China to become a pioneering eye surgeon. Since its Memorial Day weekend release, this independent film has grossed over $7.2 million at the box office and is now streaming exclusively to the Angel Guild at Angel.com and on the Angel app. SIGHT will be launching to EST/TVOD and other home entertainment platforms in the coming weeks.
