A Week Away: The Series

Max, Charlie, and the Sunshine kids are uprooted from their foster home and sent to a Christian summer camp, where longtime campers Lennie and Jake try to help them adjust to the challenges of camp life. As the kids find their footing, Camp Director David faces mounting tension when Karla, the camp’s controlling benefactor, and her determined daughter Savannah arrive, intent on reshaping the camp to fit their vision.

While Max slowly warms up to camper Lennie, he remains cautious of the camp’s spiritual atmosphere, unlike his brother Charlie, who eagerly embraces the experience and finds his place. As the first big event—the team chant competition—kicks off, Jake is determined to defend his reigning champion title, setting the stage for a summer filled with competition, personal growth, and unexpected friendships.

Camp is alive with rivalry and excitement as teams rehearse for the talent show. Charlie’s growing faith leads him to agree to a baptism during Savannah’s flashy ceremony, which is designed to showcase the camp’s spiritual success. But Max grows increasingly unsettled, worried the baptism will create distance between him and his brother. Quietly, he forms a plan that could derail the event, forcing both brothers to confront what faith, family, and belonging truly mean.

Day 4 at Camp Aweegaway kicks off with the 4:13 Challenge—a high-energy, scripture-based scavenger hunt that pushes each team to work together and dig deeper. Still reeling from the failed baptism spectacle, Karla and Savannah set their sights on Max, secretly plotting to turn his potential conversion into a redemption story. Unaware of their scheme, Max begins to soften—not because of pressure, but through his growing friendship with Lennie, who quietly guides him toward a more spiritual path.

As Max and Lennie’s bond deepens, she opens up about her rocky childhood and complicated relationship with her mom. Meanwhile, camp heats up with the Warrior Games—a wild, all-out showdown packed with friendly trash talk, outrageous challenges, and team pride on the line. But just as Max starts to feel like he finally belongs, he uncovers the truth about Karla and Savannah’s secret “Project Max,” throwing his friendships—and his place at camp—into question.

While Max wrestles with this revelation, Jake’s determination to dominate the Bible passage competition backfires when he’s defeated by Max—who has been quietly hiding both his deep understanding of Scripture and a growing crisis of faith stirred by Lennie and the camp itself.

The talent show finale brings more than just applause and trophies. While campers reflect on their journey and await the final team results, Lennie and Savannah confront the unresolved tension. Meanwhile, Max faces his biggest decision yet: keep silent about what he knows and leave camp for good, or speak the truth, forgive his friends for “Project Max,” and fully commit to a life of faith.
