Short Films, Big Ideas

Each film in InLighten Films stands completely on its own. There’s no single story connecting the collection, no required viewing order, and no one message that ties everything together.

Instead, every short offers a different experience.

Some are scripted stories that capture a meaningful moment between people. Others are documentaries that turn the camera toward real people and places. Some may challenge an assumption. Others may simply make audiences pause and see a familiar situation from a different perspective.

The films are short, but their ideas are timeless.

Stories That Hold Up a Mirror

One of the recurring ideas throughout InLighten Films is the way people see one another.

It’s easy to make assumptions about someone based on a brief interaction. It’s easy to judge before knowing the whole story. And sometimes, it takes only a few minutes—or one unexpected conversation—to realize there’s more happening beneath the surface.

That’s part of what makes these films so relatable. They aren’t necessarily about extraordinary people facing extraordinary circumstances. They often find meaning in the moments people might otherwise overlook.

As one viewer put it, “We all saw a reflection of ourselves at some point.”

That sense of recognition is central to the collection. The films invite audiences to consider not only the people on screen, but also the ways they approach the people around them.

Award-Winning Filmmakers, Real Locations

InLighten Films brings together filmmakers with award-winning work and sends them out into real locations to tell stories with a sense of place.

The result is a collection that feels bigger than its short running times might suggest.

From scripted stories to intimate documentaries, each film uses its own visual language and storytelling style. The locations span the country and the world, giving every story its own atmosphere while keeping the focus on the people and ideas at its center.

The variety is part of the appeal. One film may leave an audience laughing or surprised, while another may prompt a more in-depth conversation. Together, they create a collection that can be explored one short at a time.
