The Shift Makes Cast Announcement and Begins Filming

by Angel Studios | February 23, 2023

Angel Studios’ The Shift—a sci-fi thriller from executive producer Dallas Jenkins (The Chosen)—recently released its lead casting announcement and began filming in Birmingham, Alabama on January 30.

Casting Announcement

Kristoffer Polaha (Jurassic World: Dominion) will play the lead role of Kevin.

Neal McDonough (Yellowstone) will play The Benefactor.

Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings Trilogy) will play Gabriel.

Polaha, McDonough, and Astin join an already star-studded cast including The Chosen’s Elizabeth Tabish, Paras Patel, and Jordan Walker Ross.

What is The Shift About?

The Shift follows a man named Kevin who finds himself in a dystopian world confronted by a mysterious stranger known as “The Benefactor” who presents him with challenges as he fights to shift realities and return to the woman he loves.

The Shift was created by first-time director and award-winning filmmaker Brock Heasley with Ken Carpenter (Finding You) as producer.

"I really, really strongly believe in this project. If you are a fan of The Chosen, it's going to make sense spiritually, and also artistically... The Shift is a project in which truth is dominant and God is present, and we desperately need that," Dallas Jenkins, creator of The Chosen
